I love those cell phone commercials about the rollover minutes. You know the ones where milk gets spilled on them and the Mom gives everyone a lecture about people who don’t get rollover minutes? Don’t you wish as an entrepreneur that you could roll minutes over that way? Bank the extra hours from slow days to use on those hectic, crazy ones?
Time Management. I don’t know about the rest of the Home Office Warriors out there, but for me it’s the difference between a productive day and a wasted one. With all the avenues of online marketing and networking alone, I can find myself in a time management dilemma even without adding in actual work time. It’s one of the reasons so many home business entrepreneurs find themselves working more and longer hours than they did in a traditional office job. Experts say that in order to solve your problems with time management, you first have to determine just how your time is being spent. I thought that it might be helpful for our Home Office Warriors if we conducted a survey to find out what we’re spending our valuable time on. Using the results from the survey, next week’s post will reveal how we’re managing our time and a few activity specific tips and hints to help us get back to one of the main reasons we all became Home Office Warriors in the first place– time to enjoy our friends and families.

Hey Grant……
There is a great application that’s FREE that allows you to monitor your time on your PC, then analyzes it for you - it’s called RescueTime. I’ve been running it for about an month- I’ve only looked at stats twice. It will be a feature in one of my upcoming blog posts.
Minutes, precious minutes. Waste one and it’s gone forever. Not to sound dramatic, but your post is vital because time truly is one of life’s non-renewable resources. We believe tomorrow “is another day.” But in our working lives, time is not infinite.
So, the challenge becomes how to make the most of each day — whether working, or playing. Nineteen years into home officing, I still find it a challenge to stay focused and productive EVERY day.
Alas, on some days, when my focus is shot and the minutes seem destined for oblivion, I say, “to heck with this,” and focus on a Wow! project or something that is for me or my brand - and not necessarily paying work. It keeps me working and focused. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll find the focus to return to client projects.
Or the Law & Order…
Time really is so valuable and yet so underappreciated sometimes. I liked the survey!
